How to Use the Online Mini Keyword Directory
The United Way 211 Keyword Mini-Directory is published each year by United Way Information & Referral. It is a quick guide to community resources and is used by mental health professionals, doctors, social workers, ministers, teachers and others who are in the business of helping people.
The searchable, online version of the directory is composed of a list of topics called keywords. Beneath each keyword is a list of agencies that provide services. These providers incude government entities, not-for-profit agencies and other health and human service organizations.
To use the directory, it is best to familiarize yourself with the keyword list. Choose "Keyword List" from the directory menu. This will allow you to view the entire list of keywords, scroll through the list, select the keywords that interest you and view the list of providers.
Once you become familiar with the keyword list, you may want to go directly to "Search Keyword List." Type in the keyword or the first few letters of the keyword you wish to find, then click Go. The program will search the keywords and list those that match your request.
If you would like to see a text file that contains the names, addresses and phone numbers for every provider listed in the Keyword Mini-Directory, select "Provider Addresses and Telephone Numbers ." To view a list of volnteer civic, social, advocacy and special interest groups, select "."
