John Gives and Gets Help From His Friends at Alz’s Place
John, a “club member” at Al’z Place, enjoys a fishing trip with his new friends. This Alzheimer’s Day Care Program gives his wife, who is his primary caretaker, much need rest. |
John became a “club member” at Al’z Place, an Alzheimer’s day care program, just overfour months ago. He attends the program, supported by your gift to United Way, four days a week. His wife, who is his primary caretaker, is appreciative of this opportunity for some much needed respite time. It didn’t take long for John to feel comfortable at Al’z Place. He made friends with the staff, other clients and volunteers quickly and easily. It was clear that his happiness and the stimulation he was receiving at Al’z Place was making life much easier for his wife and family. His children recently sponsored a cruise for he and his wife. Upon returning to Al’z Place he said, “It was nice, but I really missed you all. I wish I had been here!” It’s evident that John feels loved and safe at Al’z Place. He now has become the Al’z Place “greeter” of all new clients and volunteers. He feels productive and a sense of pride as he makes everyone coming to Al’z Place feel as welcome as he felt when he first arrived. |
