Small Business Spotlight - Chef Ami

Matt Dickhaus, Chef Ami

1.Tell us about your business and your business philosophy.

We believe cooking should be fun and easy! Many couples and families lead very busy lifestyles which leave little time to plan, shop, and prepare a home cooked meal. Chef Ami is your friend in the kitchen, taking the stress out of cooking by providing everything necessary to make quick, delicious meals at home. By eliminating the question of "What's for dinner?" from their lives, our customers find they're able to live a healthier lifestyle and have more time to enjoy the things they really love.

2.Why are you passionate about your commitment to United Way’s Community Investment Fund?

The fact that the purchasing power of every dollar we contribute to the United Way is multiplied makes this program the most effective and powerful way we can have a positive impact in the community. I love the fact that the money we donate is used to help the local community which we depend on so much for our own success.

3.What is something interesting or surprising that most people don’t know about you?

I became fluent in Spanish after living in Medellin, Colombia for 3 years after college.

4.What would your older self tell your younger self?

Live in the present and try to see the bright side of things. You are in control of how you react to every situation that you are faced with so don't let the small things get you down

5.Favorite Quote?

“It always seems impossible until it's done." -- Nelson Mandela

Small businesses play a critical role in maintaining a thriving local economy. They are no less important to the success of United Way, as we endeavor to improve lives through our work in education, income, and health.
