What is Success By 6?

Success By 6 is raising awareness of the importance of early childhood development, improving access to services and offering grants to improve young children’s lives. Since its inception, more than 5,000 children have benefited from early learning, child care, parent education, health, literacy and family resource programs in North Central Florida.

What Success By 6 is Doing?

Success By 6 is raising awareness of the importance of early childhood development, improving access to services and offering grants to improve young children’s lives. When parents and caregivers are able to support children’s development, children will excel. Long-term benefits include a decrease in crime rates, teenage pregnancy, welfare dependency, special education costs and grade repetition, as well as an increase in graduation rates, workforce readiness, job productivity and community engagement.

In just three years, Success By 6 has seen many promising short-term outcomes that will lead to lasting positive changes for children, families and the entire community. Success By 6 brought together community leaders for a summit on early education that led to the initiative’s focus on parenting. In support of this focus, grants were disbursed to support parents and children through results-oriented programs.

2008 Grants went to: the Child Abuse Prevention Project; Early Learning Coalition of Alachua County; Episcopal Children’s Services; ACORN Clinic; and Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY).
