Weekend Hunger Backpack Program
The Weekend Hunger Backpack Program identifies chronically hungry children on the free/reduced lunch program that are in need of nutritional assistance over the weekend. Backpacks are filled during the week to be taken home on Friday with enough food for the child and his siblings and brought back Monday morning. Research has shown that hungry children do not have the capacity for normal learning and play; they demonstrate extreme deficits on standardized outcome measures related to academic performance and completion of school.

We need Organizations and Companies to Sponsor our program! The Weekend Hunger Backpack initiative is off to a great start, but without a network of dedicated, large groups of volunteers to help fundraise, conduct food drives, and assist with volunteer coordination, we have no way to expand and enhance the program.
