In recent days, our nation has been gripped by the devastation wrought by unprecedented flooding in Colorado and the tragic loss of life at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC.
On behalf of the US network, I want to extend our deepest sympathies to the victims of these terrible tragedies and the family, friends, colleagues and neighbors who grieve for them. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
They are also with our United Way colleagues in these communities who have stepped up to offer their support, care and leadership in this very difficult time.
The strength and character of our network is evident in the many expressions of support and sympathy so many of you have extended to your colleagues. We are so grateful.
As you know, United Way's role is to support communities during crisis and to help rebuild over the long haul. At United Way Worldwide, we are working to support our colleagues in both communities, offering whatever assistance they may need. In Washington, DC, we will work with UWNCA as they work with local partners on determining and supporting the community's needs in the days and months ahead.
