Edward Lavagnino of Gift Certificates & More
1. Tell us about your business; and what is your business philosophy?
Gift Certificates and More is an app that provides local consumers with great deals around Gainesville. Members can download the app on both iPhone and Android devices. The app features offers from nearly 300 local businesses, including more than 90 restaurants, home services (window cleaning, carpet cleaning, and pest control), and automotive services. Our goal is to provide the community with an easy to use app that saves them money on the goods and services they purchase every day, all over town!
2. Why are you passionate about your commitment to United Way’s Community Investment Fund?
Gainesville has been my home for 30 years. When I was 10, I played football at the Boys and Girls Club of Alachua County (one of United Way’s Community Impact Partners). I remember the experiences I had there as a child - the many friendships, partnerships, and fond memories. I have always appreciated those opportunities. Because of this, I take pride in working with local organizations that give back to the community. The United Way distributes funds that are raised to so many of the non-profit organizations that I value greatly, and I’m proud to be affiliated with them.
3. What is something interesting or surprising that most people don’t know about you?
I have a BA in Industrial and Systems Engineering from UF.
4. What would your older self tell your younger self?
Failing is winning. Life is full of surprises, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.
