Vice President, Development

The United Way of North Central Florida has a challenging opportunity for an individual with proven leadership and vision in developing and implementing creative fundraising strategies that generate revenue for programs and special initiatives.

The new VP will be a self-starter with Five or more years experience as a successful fund raiser with a particular emphasis on major gift solicitation and effective staff management. She/He will have demonstrated ability to develop long range cultivation and fund-raising strategies; previous experience with successful annual campaigns of at least $4 million; outstanding interpersonal and written and oral communication skills; diplomacy; excellent supervisory and motivational skills; strong analytic and strategic-thinking skills with demonstrated ability to manage complex fund development plans; understanding of marketing principles as they relate to fund raising; and a "roll up your sleeves" work ethic.

The Vice President for Resource Development will serve as a member of the Staff Leadership Team and will work closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee to carry out the work of the organization and be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for all United Way of North Central Florida Resource Development Activities.

Critical for this position will be specific leadership responsibility to ensure the organization is achieving its goal relative to expanding reach, deepening engagement and ensuring outstanding relationship management.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President of Resource Development is an accomplished, proven leader charged with development and implementation of effective resource development strategies for a Community Impact organization.

The VP will be a visionary leader and developer of people resources responsible for developing, shaping and executing a comprehensive, multi-faceted donor and stakeholder development plan that differentiates the United Way brand, builds relationships with key audiences, and works to position United Way as a catalyst for building community.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of accomplishment with a customer relationship management model, strategic planning, marketing analysis and strategy, change management and project management processes.

Responsibilities include annual campaign, federated or combined campaigns, strategic initiatives, major gifts, planned giving and leadership giving.

Design, organize, direct, and implement strategy for all coordinated fundraising activities for workplace campaign, leadership giving, and assigned target markets.

Conduct market analysis to select and plan target areas for new revenue and increased revenue from existing markets.

Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with senior management of key accounts, ensuring maximum support in their organization’s campaign.

Develop alliances as appropriate, with corporate, government and private partners.

Personally manages several large, significant accounts.

Develop and implement strategic long-range plans for department/division; track/report results. Direct and manage human resources: employees, interns, consultants, and volunteers.

Cultivate relationships with public and private groups to present United Way’s vision, mission, services, and programs, and fulfill United Way goals of cost-effective fundraising and community building.
