On March 25, 2014, guests socialized with Young Leaders Society members, networked, played a fun game, ate some yummy snacks and learned about the benefits of joining YLS. United Way Government Mix-n-Mingle for Young Leaders

On October 9, 2013, United Way of North Central Florida’s Young Leaders Society hosted a Mix-n-Mingle with the Alachua County Government. This fun and interactive event allowed participants to see how government officials compile budgets and make other important decisions. The participants were faced with real-life choices between which programs to fund and which to cut. Additionally, County Manager Betty Baker spoke about her career path which led to her current position. Thanks so much to our wonderful sponsors:

 

Social at Chuy's

On July 9, 2013, YLS members and guests enjoyed free appetizers and drink specials at Chuy's Restaurant, and got a chance to do some professional networking. Special thanks to our YLS sponsors, Nationwide and Enterprise Holdings, and to our host, Chuy's!

Backstage Pass to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium

On June 12, 2013, YLS and guests took a behind-the-scenes tour through the skybox tower and the Heavener Complex Lobby! Guests looked at Gator trophies, experienced interactive content, and finished with a highlight video in the Gator Room.

 

Boot Camp II - Mock Allocation Exercise

On May 20, 2013, YLS soldiers participated in a community investment simulation learning how to allocate resources to civilian programs.

On May 13, 2013, Debbie Mason, United Way of North Central Florida, President, CEO, and YLS Boot Camp II Commander explained what it takes to lead in the non-profit sector.

 

Boot Camp II - Social Services

On May 6, 2013, our boot camp recruits reported to duty for their first training! Debbie Mason, United Way of North Central Florida's President & CEO, and YLS Boot Camp II Commander, conducted basic training exercises about how social services operate in the field.

 

YLS Backstage Pass with Andy Sherrard - O2BKids!

On April 10, 2013, we found out that fun can surely exist in the workplace! We got to experience a behind-the-scenes look at the Supercenter and a Q&A session with Andy Sherrard, co-owner of O2BKids!. Sherrard manages the day-to-day operations of O2BKids! with a primary focus on finance, marketing, branding and planning. His passion for early childhood education and creativity shines through in his successful model of school enrichment and unstructured PLAY time for children.

YLS Leadership Chat with Quenta Vettel

On February 11, 2013, we learned how to effectively communicate in the workplace from one of the best! Quenta Vettel, APR, Director of Communications for UF College of Communications and Journalism was our featured guest and speaker at this month's Leadership Chat. 

 

Backstage Pass with Grooveshark

On December 9, 2012, the Young Leaders Society hosted a behind-the-scenes look at Grooveshark, one of the most innovative companies in town! Thanks to Josh Greenberg, CTO and co-founder and the rest of the Grooveshark staff for being so friendly and allowing us to tour your office!
