2013 Day of Action

United Way of North Central Florida will host an “Assemble and Decorate” event as an effort to expand and enhance its Book Nook Initiative. To promote community volunteerism through the annual Day of Action, you are invited to participate as well as collect books for the ongoing Book Nook Initiative.

In an effort to improve reading proficiency, the Book Nook Initiative involves the placement of bookshelves in a variety of local areas that are accessible to children and families. The “Assemble and Decorate” event will give the community a chance to volunteer on United Way’s National Day of Action by gathering together to assemble, paint, decorate, and transform book shelves to be used as part of the Book Nook Initiative.

“This year’s Day of Action gives our community a chance to create something for children that will be a part of their lives for years to come,” said Debbie Mason, United Way of North Central Florida president and CEO. “The Book Nook Initiative provides books to families that may otherwise not have the opportunity or resources to purchase.”

Join us and take ACTION with Exactech, United Way of North Central Florida’s Women’s Leadership Council, Bosshardt Realty Services, Golder Associates, Junior League of Gainesville, Sunrise Rotary Club of Gainesville, Gainesville Women’s Club, and Carr Riggs & Ingram!
