On October 24, more than 120 volunteers from the Gainesville area gave their time to beautify and weatherize Alachua County schools.
Volunteers came from companies such as: Nationwide, AvMed, Macy's, Alachua County Library, Carr, Riggs & Ingram, Publix, Alachua County Fire Rescue and more. Eight members of the Alachua County Facilities Office came to help on their day off.
The volunteers were split among seven schools and helped perform many tasks that greatly impacted the schools. Some of these tasks include: caulking windows and doors that were in need of repair, raking, pulling weeds and trimming and removing shrubbery.
The event started with a kick-off breakfast and message from Alachua County School Superintendent Dr. Owen Roberts at Duval Elementary School.
We truly appreciate the support of all of our volunteers and partners. This event was a great success and we look forward to impacting even more schools next year. Thank you to all of our event sponsors: Nationwide Insurance, North Florida Regional Medical Center, Florida Food Service, Pepsi, and Parrish McCall.
