We took our partners and the local media inside the Hippodrome Theatre on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 to catch them up on our upcoming plans for United Downtown™ 2013. Guests from The Florida Players Network, City of Gainesville, and Florida Track Club, among others, sat in the historic theater as President and CEO, Debbie Mason, brought everyone up to speed. This year, United Downtown™ will be spread out over the course of four months and will be held on Fridays before home football games. Each week will be themed and will host vendors specifically designated to match the theme of each week. We announced the four themes and proudly displayed them on festive poster boards; Week one is “Gator Run-n-Fun”; Week two is “Show your Love for GNV”; Week three is “Paint Downtown Orange and Blue; and week four is “Gators Ride, Rock and Roll.” With plenty of excitement and enthusiasm, Mason announced that Swamp Head Brewery is the official beer sponsor for the 2013 United Downtown™ beer garden, and that Grooveshark is the official DJ for the event series. There will also be a “kids zone,” where O2B Kids! will provide face painting and more, and Burger King will provide bounce houses. With plenty for everyone to do at United Downtown™, everyone will have a fantastic time!
