Our goals are to:

1. Build genuine, impactful relationships between students and our volunteer mentors, 
2. Help students build a strong social-emotional foundation (aka SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING/DEVELOPMENT) through
self-awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making, and
3. Improve students' understanding of the fundamental building blocks of early literacy.


68% of American's fourth graders read at a below proficient level. 82% of those children are from low-income families.

Help us work in collaboration with teachers, parents and local nonprofit partners to prepare 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders for reading success!


Minimum Requirements:

  • One hour per week, 12-25 hours during fall and/or spring

  • One hour bi-weekly with a partner volunteer

  • New Volunteer Training

  • Level 1 Background Screening (free for volunteers)
